3rd Street Upgrades Ahead
— Improved Airport Roadway Access —
Federal funding will soon contribute to improvements along 3rd Street, a primary roadway access point to San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) and also an important corridor between San Bernardino and Highland.
Congressman Pete Aguilar and other elected and local leaders gathered at SBD on February 17 to announce $3 million in funding for the Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) to improve safety and mobility along 3rd Street. Roadway repaving, new and improved sidewalks, and other streetscape upgrades are some of the infrastructure investments that residents, business operators, and visitors will soon enjoy.
In a press statement, Rep. Aguilar commented, “I worked to secure this funding because it will help make critical improvements to 3rd Street and enhance safety and access to the San Bernardino International Airport. As flights to Las Vegas just opened yesterday, the airport needs this support for the thousands of customers and businesses they serve daily.”
The 3rd Street project is another example of the ongoing progress and economic development that federal, state, and local leaders are delivering to revitalize the Inland Empire. This and other investment projects are creating career opportunities and enhancing the streetscape along this vital corridor, which is also one of the first impressions that visitors experience when they travel to and from SBD.
The IVDA is a joint powers authority comprised of the County of San Bernardino and the cities of Colton, Loma Linda, and San Bernardino. Learn more about the 3rd Street project and its funding here.
