Minimizing the effects of noise on people and in the communities where they live and work is a global effort. At the SBD Airport Commission meeting on April 28, 2021, which also happened to be International Noise Awareness Day, Airport staff took the opportunity to advise the Commission and public about how SBD is working to reduce aircraft noise on our neighbors.
These efforts include:
- Educating pilots on preferred flight procedures. This video is one example of these outreach efforts
- Continuing to develop and promote the SBD Good Neighbor Program, a resource to educate neighbors about Airport developments and operations, and which offers ways for them to provide feedback about Airport-related noise events
- Ongoing analysis of noise comment data that show trends and promote further understanding of opportunities to reduce noise impacts
As SBD continues to grow in support of aviation-related needs and demands from our region, Airport staff will continue its efforts to mitigate noise impacts on our nearby community.
