Celebrating Six Years of the SBD Good Neighbor Program
The SBD Good Neighbor Program is an important resource for the IE community to stay informed about their local airport. The program informs and educates residents and business owners how aircraft operations at San Bernardino International Airport play a role in delivering easy and accessible travel, and SBD’s essential and economic benefits to the region. Our award-winning aircraft noise management program has for the past six years included a Noise Comment Form and Community Response Line for locals to share feedback about aircraft activity and airport developments at sbdgoodneighbor.com.
Airport neighbors and pilots operating at SBD use the Good Neighbor Program as a way to learn about the airport and noise-sensitive areas adjacent to SBD. The program includes a dedicated website, explanatory videos about flight operations, a quarterly newsletter, social media communications, media outreach, and quarterly reports and presentations to local elected officials.
Through the Good Neighbor Program, locals recognize that SBD is a home base to emergency and essential tenants that provide vital services to the IE and beyond, including firefighting aircraft, sheriff helicopters, commercial airlines, cargo carriers, and general aviation aircraft. The program explains how the airport and aircraft serve the region, how and where aircraft typically fly, preferred flight and flight safety procedures for pilots, infrastructure projects’ news and information, and career opportunities that continue to support a revitalized region.
