Trend Talk: 2Q25
Noise comments received from San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) neighbors in April – June 2025 (2Q25) reflect these trends:
- Compared to April – June 2024 (2Q24), there was a year-over-year increase in both the number of noise comments received and the number of distinct households filing comments. In 2Q25, 46 additional noise comments were received with 15 more households filing comments.
- Of the 116 comments filed in 2Q25, 77 and 26 were geographically concentrated in the cities of Highland and San Bernardino, respectively, with 18 distinct households filing comments between both cities during the quarter.
- In comparison to January – March 2025 (1Q25), 45 more comments were filed and 10 more households filed comments.
The top five distinct households filing comments in 2Q25 reside in Highland and San Bernardino. Together, they filed 81 (or 70%) of the total comments.
Year-over-year noise comments related to SBD increased in 2Q25 due to:
- Continued jet aircraft operations at SBD
- Engaged and concerned community members seeking information about aircraft, and
- Ongoing community education and engagement about aircraft operations at SBD.
The Good Neighbor Program continues to be an important resource and outlet for airport neighbors, as well as a tool to educate pilots about flying quiet and flying safe.
