Trend Talk: 1Q25

Noise comments received from San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) neighbors in January – March 2025 (1Q25) reflect these trends:

  • Compared to January – March 2024 (1Q24), there was a year-over-year increase in both the number of noise comments received and the number of distinct households filing comments. In 1Q25, 48 additional noise comments were received with five more households filing comments.
  • Of the 71 comments filed in 1Q25, 34 and nine were geographically concentrated in the cities of Highland and Victorville, respectively, with 11 distinct households filing comments between both cities during the quarter.

  • In comparison to October – December 2024 (4Q24), there was an increase in the number of noise comments received while the number of distinct households filing comments decreased. Nine more comments were filed and three fewer households filed comments.

The top five distinct households filing comments in 1Q25 reside in Highland, Victorville, and San Bernardino. Together, they filed 49 (or 69%) of the total comments.

Year-over-year noise comments related to SBD increased in 1Q25 due to:

  • Jet aircraft operations at SBD
  • Engaged and concerned community members seeking information about aircraft, and
  • Ongoing community education and engagement about aircraft operations at SBD.

The Good Neighbor Program continues to be an important resource and outlet for airport neighbors, as well as a tool to educate pilots about neighborhood noise sensitivity.
