SBD's Community Ties

— Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going in Our Neighborhoods —

The San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) team has had a busy season connecting with our neighbors. This is where we’ve been as we wrap up the year:

  • Celebrated the first anniversary of airline service with a free community Cruising at Altitude concert, live aboard the world-famous Boeing 737 plane stage. Over 4,500 people enjoyed live music from The Walters and Almost Monday, while food trucks filled their appetites all from a unique venue and view on the airfield.
  • Joined the San Bernardino Police Department in the Dollars for Dogs fundraiser, benefiting their K-9 unit, which was a pawsitive experience. We shared information on our nonstop and one-stop destinations, enjoyed excellent food from the host venue, The Mexico Cafe, and pet some really good boys.
  • Visited Caesar E Chavez Middle School to share with students what it’s like to work at an airport, and how they can prepare themselves for a career in aviation.
  • Hung out at the University of California, Riverside to educate all the cool kids that SBD is the smart and easy choice to fly to and from campus. We got our own lesson about campus life, learning that it’s all about mobile phones, shades, and lots of caffeine!
  • Received an award from The Kiwanis Club of San Bernardino in recognition of SBD’s community commitment and continuing investment in the revitalization of the airport and its positive impact on the region.
  • Educated members of our business community about opportunities at SBD at an event hosted by the San Bernardino Transportation Authority. Topics included guidelines for participating in federally funded projects, the types of projects contractors and vendors may be eligible to bid on at SBD, and the airport’s public procurement process.
  • Finally, SBD hosted and sponsored the ninth annual San Bernardino Family Fun Run, also known as the Turkey Trot. The 5K and 10K event was held on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 23, 2023. It was so much fun to see the community come out to wobble before they gobbled.
