On April 8, U.S. Congressman Pete Aguilar visited SBD International Airport with a really big check. While standing on the tarmac, Representative Aguilar presented an oversized check in the amount of $1 million for runway repairs to San Bernardino International Airport Authority Commission President and Mayor of Colton Frank Navarro and Director of Aviation Mark Gibbs.

On his Facebook page, Representative Aguilar commented that the federal funding contributes to “a more efficient airport to address supply chains, increase productivity and lower costs for the Inland Empire.”
Gibbs also welcomed the federal dollars and thanked Representative Aguilar for his support in securing the critical funding. “With $1 million available for runway repairs, the Airport team can now focus on extending its life while increasing the safety
and reliability for aircraft of all sizes operating at SBD,” he said.
Creating construction jobs in the Inland Empire is another benefit of the federal funding. Local contractors specializing in airport construction will be invited to bid on the runway repair project. Learn more here.
