New Year, New Flight to Phoenix

San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) and Breeze Airways’ launch of seasonal, nonstop service to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) on February 15 was celebrated widely by area residents, business owners, and public officials.

“New seasonal and nonstop service between San Bernardino International Airport and Phoenix is a game changer, as the convenient flight allows travelers to skip the long drive, reduce their travel time, and choose Breeze Airways’ affordable fares rather than fueling up at high-priced gas stations,” said Director of Aviation Mark Gibbs. “With convenient and affordable flights, local residents can spend more time enjoying spring training, visiting family, or relaxing in the Phoenix sun.”


The festive gate gathering featured cactus-shaped balloons, SBD-themed gift bags, and a selfie station promoting the new destination. Airline and airport personnel welcomed passengers arriving from PHX and departing on the inaugural flight from SBD, and christened the aircraft with sparkling wine prior to pushback. San Bernardino County Firefighters honored the inbound and outbound flights with a customary water cannon salute.


Celebrating the new Phoenix service with congratulatory remarks were Frank Navarro, President of the San Bernardino International Airport Authority (SBIAA) and Mayor of the City of Colton, along with his SBIAA colleagues, and representatives of SBD, Inland Valley Development Agency, and Breeze Airways.


“As we unveil this new route to Phoenix, we are excited to offer residents of the Inland Empire more options in air travel,” said Tom Doxey, President of Breeze Airways. “The launch of this route highlights our commitment to connecting communities and making air travel accessible to all.”


The flight between San Bernardino and Phoenix operates each Thursday and Sunday on 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft designed with three seating choices—Nice, Nicer, and Nicest. Beyond Phoenix, the BreezeThru flight continues to Hartford, Connecticut, offering easy, service to the East Coast.


Breeze Airways also operates nonstop service from SBD to San Francisco International Airport with BreezeThru service to Provo, UT.
