Celebrating Five Years of the SBD Good Neighbor Program
— Informs and Educates Our Community about Aircraft Operations at
San Bernardino International Airport

We’re celebrating five years of the SBD Good Neighbor Program, a resource launched in 2020 to inform and educate our community about how San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) continues to evolve to meet the Inland Empire region’s needs.
The Good Neighbor Program provides residents with resources that inform about airplane traffic through a dedicated website, educational videos, social media messaging, media outreach, and quarterly community newsletters and reports.
SBD’s listening and learning channel:
- Keeps neighbors informed about how the airport’s mix of aircraft and operations continue to evolve
- Gives community members an outlet to share comments and ask questions, and
- Informs pilots operating at SBD about neighborhood noise-sensitive areas.
“As San Bernardino International Airport has evolved over the past five years, so has the Good Neighbor Program,” said Director of Aviation Mark Gibbs. “The program explains how the airport and the various aircraft operating at SBD serve the region, how and where aircraft typically fly, preferred flight procedures for pilots, infrastructure projects’ news, and airport career opportunities that continue to help revitalize the region.”
“We remain committed to keeping our community informed about aircraft operations that may create unwanted noise and giving our neighbors channels to learn, comment, and ask questions to better understand our airport,” Gibbs continued.
A model program for airports across the country, the Good Neighbor Program won an industry award for excellence in 2021 for its outreach efforts and results.
