Trend Talk: 2Q26

The SBD Good Neighbor Program offers analyzed data for the current quarterly report, which includes quarterly and year-over-year trends. The report was presented publicly during the San Bernardino International Airport Authority Commission meeting on August 26, 2026.

Noise comments received from San Bernardino International Airport (SBD) neighbors in April – June 2026 (2Q26) reflect these trends:

  • Compared to April – June 2025 (2Q25), there was a year-over-year increase in both the number of noise comments received and the number of distinct households filing comments. In 2Q26, 164 comments were received with 55 households filing comments.
  • Of the 164 comments filed in 2Q26, 104, 38, and 10 were geographically concentrated in the cities of Highland, Redlands, and Mentone, respectively.
  • In comparison to January – March 2026 (1Q26), 107 more comments were filed and 31 additional households filed comments.

The top five distinct households filing comments in 2Q26 reside in Highland, Redlands, Mentone, and Victorville. Together, they filed 102 (or 62%) of the total comments.

Year-over-year noise comments related to SBD increased in 2Q26, which are attributed to:

  • Continued jet aircraft operations at SBD
  • Engaged and concerned community members seeking information about aircraft, and
  • Ongoing community education and engagement about aircraft operations at SBD.

The Good Neighbor Program is an important resource and outlet for airport neighbors, as well as a tool to educate pilots about neighborhood noise sensitivity.
